About this deal
This lot covers the final chapter of the original Avengers series. The first volume of Avengers ran monthly through issue #402, concluding in September 1996. Issues in this range span two major Marvel events: The Crossing story arc, which ran through issues #390-395 and crossed over with titles including Iron Man, Force Works and War Machine, and the Onslaught event, which ties in from #400 onwards and has been regularly collected whenever Onslaught is reprinted. The final issue features the Avengers roster including Captain America, Black Widow, Thor, Giant-Man, Quicksilver, Wasp, Scarlet Witch and Iron Man, with the villain Onslaught as the antagonist. This is a solid run for collectors interested in 1990s Marvel history. The Crossing storyline centres on the revelation that Iron Man has been corrupted and is working for Kang, with the Avengers travelling back in time to recruit a teenage Tony Stark in his place. As Onslaught tears through New York, the Avengers work to rescue civilians before the line-wide event concludes their adventures for a year or so. The 29 issues are graded VF/NM, making this a desirable lot for fans wanting near-complete physical copies of the original series in high-grade condition without the higher cost of individually sourced books.
