This is a piece of vintage Atari software sold in used condition. The Atari 1050 is a floppy disk drive for Atari 8-bit computers, released in June 1983. It is compatible with the 90 kB single-density mode of the original Atari 810 it replaced, and added an enhanced dual-density mode offering 130 kB, housed in a half-height Tandon mechanism styled to match the 600XL and 800XL machines. This diagnostic disk is an essential tool for any retro enthusiast maintaining or repairing a 1050 drive. Booting from the disk presents a software menu from which you can launch the full diagnostic process. Tests cover motor start, motor speed, head step and settle, and track 00, with controller or invalid command failures indicating potential chip faults. It can also be used to assist with tasks such as aligning a replacement stepper motor. Note that the CPS diagnostic software will not work with a drive that has been modified with a Happy or Speedy board. This item is sold used.
