Asobi Asobase is a comedy seinen manga written and illustrated by Rin Suzukawa. The story centres on Kasumi Nomura, a strait-laced fourteen-year-old who has grown up hating games thanks to her older sister always beating her at them. She crosses paths with Hanako and Olivia, a girl of American descent who pretends to be bad at Japanese to appear cool, and their energetic antics gradually draw Kasumi in. Hakusensha collected the series into fifteen tankobon volumes. This set covers the opening two volumes of the series in the original Japanese language, making it ideal for manga readers comfortable with Japanese or collectors who enjoy the source material. A 12-episode anime television series adaptation directed by Seiji Kishi and animated by Lerche aired in 2018, which has helped the manga build a dedicated international fanbase.
