This is the first edition Japanese language tankōbon of Asadora! Vol. 1 by acclaimed manga creator Naoki Urasawa, first published on 29 March 2019 by Shogakukan. The series began serialisation in the seinen manga magazine Weekly Big Comic Spirits on 6 October 2018. The story follows Asa Asada, a young girl from a large family in Nagoya who is kidnapped for ransom in 1959 -- and not a soul notices. When a typhoon strikes, Asa and her kidnapper must work together to survive. The series also weaves in a mysterious creature and a storyline set in 2020. Fans of Urasawa's previous work will recognise familiar elements: a looming monster apocalyptic threat, well-researched Japanese history, and cinematic framing set within 1959 Nagoya. Urasawa conceived the idea for Asadora! following the 2011 Tohoku earthquake and tsunami, and the storytelling is matched with dynamic, classic realist manga artwork influenced by Osamu Tezuka. Being the original Japanese-language first edition first printing, this is the version in which the series debuted, making it a desirable collectors item for Urasawa enthusiasts. The series went on to win Best Series at the 2021 Lucca Comics Awards in Italy.
