A.I. Love You is a manga series written and illustrated by Ken Akamatsu, which originally ran from 1994 to 1997 in Weekly Shonen Magazine. It follows Hitoshi Koube, a boy with a gift for programming who creates self-modifying artificial intelligence programs, the most advanced of which -- named Saati -- is so lifelike she could easily pass the Turing test. The English translation was published by Tokyopop, with the first volume arriving in North America in February 2004. This is volume three of Akamatsu's first manga series, and fans familiar with his later work can see the clear progression of his art style. The series originally ran in the early 1990s, so much of the computer talk is dated, though it is entertaining to see the story tackle what people imagined the internet was like at the time, with AI characters travelling inside computers and encountering malware and virus detectors. It will appeal to fans of Akamatsu's better-known title Love Hina, and is a collectable first edition in Very Good condition.
